What’s New at Trinity?

Week of January 19, 2020

 

Readings for this Coming Weekend – Saturday and Sunday, January 11th and 12th

Every Sunday we read texts from the Bible: a lesson from the Old Testament and/or the New Testament, a Psalm and one of the Gospels. That’s a lot to take in all at once. To prepare us for the coming weekend, we are presenting the texts to you ahead of time. The texts for this Sunday appear below.

 

First Lesson: Isaiah 49:1-7

Psalm: Psalm 40:1-12

Second Lesson: 1 Corinthians 1:1-9

Gospel: John 1:29-42

 

Daughters of the King Ladies’ Wine and Cheese Social – Sunday, January 19th

Trinity’s Daughters of the King invite all women of Trinity to a churchwide Ladies’ Wine and Cheese Social this Sunday, January 19th from 4:00-5:30 PM in the Education Building. We hope all will be able to attend. If you have any questions, please contact Audrey Richey by email at audreykrichey@gmail.com or by phone: 772-766-3844.

 

GriefShare Support Group continues – Wednesday, January 22nd

GriefShare is a Grief Support group that is led by Fr. Robert Switz for those who have experienced the loss of a loved one. There are 13-weekly sessions with a video introduction from experts in the field, a group discussion time and a workbook for personal use. Each session is self-contained, so you are welcome to begin attending at any time. Everyone in the Vero Beach community is welcome to attend. This session of GriefShare began Wednesday, October 30th and will continue every Wednesday from 3:30 to 5:00 PM in the Church office conference room until February 12th.  If you have any questions or would like to sign-up, please contact Fr. Josh Gritter in the Church office at 772-567-1146 or through email at jgritter@trinityvero.org.

 

Annual Stained-Glass Window Crawl – Saturday, January 25th

Trinity Episcopal Church will be taking part in a community-wide Stained-Glass Window Crawl on Saturday, January 25th from 9:00 AM to 12:30 PM. Similar to past crawls, the event will begin with an orientation followed by participants traveling to four churches, as well as the Conrad Pickel Studio, where stained-glass windows are currently expertly crafted. There will be several docents available at Trinity to explain the extremely rich collection of stained-glass windows we have in the Chapel, the Church and the Music buildings.  Each site will take approximately a half hour to tour.  Afterwards, the group will move on to the next site.  If you are interested in joining the crawl, please contact Christie Garst at stainedglasscrawl@gail.com to register and receive details on the crawl.

 

2020 Annual Meeting and Brunch – Sunday, January 26th

Please note that the 2020 Annual Meeting will be held in the Parish Hall on Sunday, January 26th immediately following the 10:00 AM Eucharist. Brunch will be served. Please let us know that you will be attending by signing up on either the Friendship Forms, on the bulletin board after the service, or email Alyssa Hiser at ahiser@trinityvero.org.

 

Three individuals have been nominated by the Vestry Nominating Committee to replace the vestrymen whose terms will expire. The new nominees are: Bill Knickman, Stacey Clawson and Austin Powell.

 

If you would like to nominate a person for the Vestry or if you have any questions, please contact

Jim Large, Chairman of the Vestry Nominating Committee at jlarge46@yahoo.com. Nominees must be a “Member in Good Standing” of Trinity Episcopal Church and be willing to accept the “Qualifications and Expectations of Vestry Members” document. Nominations must be received by Sunday, January 19th, 2020.

 

Boys & Girls Choir – February 2nd

The Boys & Girls Choir will resume their practices on Sunday, February 2, 2020 at 11:30 AM in Darlene Rodgers’ classroom. If you have any questions, please contact Darlene through email at islandsong47@msn.com.

 

2020 Offering Envelopes

If you would like Offering envelopes for 2020, please stop by the Church office this week to pick them up or call the office to make other arrangements. The envelopes are assigned on a first-come, first-served basis. If you have any questions, please call the Church office at 772-567-1146.

Weekly Eucharist at Noon -- Monday through Thursday

The Eucharist is celebrated Monday through Thursday at Noon in the Chapel. Rite I is used on Monday, Wednesday and Thursday. The Tuesday Eucharist uses the 1928 Prayer Book. The Wednesday Eucharist includes Prayers for Healing.

 

Adult Choir

The Adult Choir rehearses Wednesday evenings from 7:00 to 8:30 PM and Sunday mornings from 9:00 to 9:45 AM. If you are interested in joining the Adult Choir, please contact Dr. Anthony Baron in the Church office at 772-567-1146 or through email at abaron@trinityvero.org to schedule an audition.

 

Boys & Girls Choir Rehearsals

The Boys & Girls Choir rehearses on Sunday mornings from 11:30 AM to 12:00 PM. Beyond singing, this group teaches the children what it means to be a chorister in the Anglican tradition. They rely on using Christian hymns and prayers to teach children how music can be an offering to God in our liturgy. Children ages 4 and up are invited to join. If you have any questions or are interested in your children joining the Junior Choir, please contact Darlene Rodgers through email at islandsong47@msn.com.

 

Trinity’s Youth Group

Trinity offers a Youth Group for young adults, grades 6 through 12. The Youth Group meets on the second and fourth Sundays of the month from 5:00 to 6:30 p.m. The youth have dinner, play games, and have Biblical discussions.

 

Trinity’s youth group is engaging and Christ-centered, focused on imparting the love and knowledge of God. We use games and discussion-based teaching to serve our students. Our prayerful desire is for our students to then take the Good News of the Gospel and introduce it to their communities. We welcome all Middle and High School youth, from those who are merely curious about God to those who have a full-fledged desire to follow him. If you have any questions, please contact Fr. Coffee Hour Host

The Coffee Hour Sign-up sheet is located on the bulletin board in the Narthex of the Church and in the Parish Hall. Please take a moment to sign up for a Sunday or two of your choice to provide the treats. They can be homemade, or store bought: a batch of cookies, coffee cake, crackers, etc. On Sunday, bring your treats to the Parish Hall kitchen and they will be set out at the proper time for you. Your fellow parishioners will thank you. Alan and Susan Miller are our hosts for Coffee Hour this weekend. If you have any questions regarding signing up for Coffee Hour, what or how much to bring, please contact Kathy Rodriguez in the Church office at 772-567-1146 or through email at krodriguez@trinityvero.org.

 

Altar Flower Donations

Flowers for the Altar in the Church and Chapel can be donated “In Memory of” or “In Thanksgiving for” a loved one on any given Sunday of the year (except during Lent and Advent.)  If you are interested in donating Altar flowers, please sign up on the board in the back of the Church or contact Kathy Rodriguez in the office at 772-567-1146 or through email at krodriguez@TrinityVero.org.

 

Prayer Requests

If you have a friend or a loved one that you would like to be prayed for by the Daughters of the King, please complete a Friendship Form that is in the pews in the Church and Chapel and place it in the collection plate during the service.  The person requested will remain on the Daughters of the King prayer list for 2 weeks, unless otherwise indicated.  You can also call the Church office at 772-567-1146 or email Kathy Rodriguez at krodriguez@trinityvero.org to have someone put on the prayer list.

 

Pastoral Care

Father Rodriguez brings Holy Communion to our sick and shut-ins. We also have a team of people who visit the Indian River Medical Center on a weekly basis for prayer and pastoral support. If you or someone you know needs Pastoral Care, please call the office at 772-567-1146. If your call is during normal office hours, your call will be answered by the office staff and you will be directed to Fr. Rodriguez. If your call is after office hours, please press ‘1’ at main menu on the phone system and you will be connected to Fr. Rodriguez’ cell phone.

 

Home Addresses

Please note that the office will be using your Vero Beach mailing address for church mailings, unless notified otherwise. The office frequently has mail returned with messages stating, “Unable to forward, Return to sender” etc. If you would like the Church to use another address during different times of the year, please email Michele Hanlon at mhanlon@trinityvero.org. Please let us know a start date and an end date for the other address.

 

Parking on Sundays

Please note that the parking lots next to the Church and Chapel are for elderly and handicapped use only on Sunday mornings. Everyone else should use the parking lots behind the Parish Hall and the Triplex (across Granada). Thank you!

The Church office is open from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM Mondays through Thursdays and on Fridays from 9:00 AM to 1:00 PM

If you or someone you know needs Pastoral Care, please call the office at 772-567-1146. If your call is during normal office hours, your call will be answered by the office staff and you will be directed to Fr. Rodriguez. If your call is after office hours, please press ‘1’ at main menu on the phone system and you will be connected to Fr. Rodriguez’ cell phone.

 

Home Addresses

Please note that the office will be using your Vero Beach mailing address for church mailings, unless notified otherwise. The office frequently has mail returned with messages stating, “Unable to forward, Return to sender” etc. If you would like the Church to use another address during different times of the year, please email Michele Hanlon at mhanlon@trinityvero.org. Please let us know a start date and an end date for the other address.

 

Parking on Sundays

Please note that the parking lots next to the Church and Chapel are for elderly and handicapped use only on Sunday mornings. Everyone else should use the parking lots behind the Parish Hall and the Triplex (across Granada). Thank you!

 

Church Office Hours

The Church office is open from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM Mondays through Thursdays and on Fridays from 9:00 AM to 1:00 PM
