The Handbell Choir

"Tintinnabulation" is the art of playing bells. Handbells were developed by English change ringers who, rather than disturbing an entire village as they rehearsed their patterns, used hand bells. Gradually the value of playing these bells in performance began to be realized and a dynamic new art was born!

The Trinity Handbell Choir (known affectionately as the "Ding-a-lings"), plays in church on an occasional basis, especially around Christmas and Easter, in addition to other settings. The Choir presently rehearses for one hour on Thursday mornings during the fall and winter at 9:15 a.m. Membership is open to anyone, even if you cannot read music. Joining a handbell choir is an excellent way for the musical novice to explore and nurture one’s talent, without the stress that other music groups might produce.

Trinity Church possesses a marvelous 4-octave set of bells made by the Schlumerich Company of Pennsylvania. Trinity also owns a 2-octave set of Suzuki hand chimes.
