Circa Trinitas

Dear Trinitarian:

Explorations

On Saturday (26th) at 4 PM and Sunday (27th) at 9 AM the explorations continue in the Great Hall. We will look into the first three chapters of Genesis - the first book of the Torah. That's a tall order - three chapters in 35 minutes but we are up to the task.

Please be reminded that the explorations take place in a safe zone. By this I mean that no one is ever put in an embarrassing situation to read Scripture or come up with prior knowledge of the subject. That's my promise to you. Bring a Bible if you are comfortable doing so.

On Sunday evening (27th) we have a "go deeper session." This fast paced hour allows for more questions and discussion than do the Saturday and Sunday teachings. The opportunity is also given in a "go deeper session" to reflect back upon the morning's sermon with questions and or discussion.

New Vestry

Please welcome Janet Barkett, Gary St. Arnauld, and Anne Stubbs Cooney to the Vestry. These additions round out the Vestry to twelve members of Trinity.

Visitors

An important component of our common life is hospitality. Please be sure to introduce yourself to visitors. I would encourage you to then bring them in person to me. A warm shake of the hand from the rector can encourage a return.

Also, and this is important, as you see "Leavers" return - and some will - bring them to me as well.

The Military

We will be laying before the Lord, on the Altar of the Chapel, the names of persons serving in the military presently. In addition, please write me personally with the names of family members who gave their life in any previous war in which our country was engaged. A dignified book will contain these names. Anyone that is able to do calligraphy and would like to help with this project is encouraged to make contact with me by email. My email address is at the bottom of this Circa Trinitas.

My Blog

Don't forget to check into my blog and to pass the address on to others. I make an attempt to update it daily with various types of information that the Trinitarian might value. To go to my blog click here.

This brings my best wishes to you all.

Circa Trinitas

Dear Trinitarian:

Especially for the men of Trinity

Dean Lobs opines that this may not be the time in history when the Church of Jesus Christ in the West (or civil government) will be best known for the quality of her leadership. To the degree that is true the words that follow are important. GRL3 Consider ...

"God, give us Men! A time like this demands
Strong minds, great hearts, true faith and ready hands;
Men whom the lust of office does not kill;
Men whom the spoils of office cannot buy;
Men who possess opinions and a will;
Men who have honor;
Men who will not lie;
Men who can stand before a demagogue
And damn his treacherous flatteries without winking!
Tall men, sun-crowned, who live above the fog
In public duty and in private thinking;
For while the rabble, with their thumb-worn creeds,
Their large professions and their little deeds,
Mingle in selfish strife, lo! Freedom weeps,
Wrong rules the land and waiting justice sleeps."

Josiah Gilbert Holland (1819-1881)

Childcare at Trinity

Trinity Parish is a safe place for all ages. With regard to our youngest members there is childcare on Sundays beginning at 9 AM for Dean Lobs' class. It continues through the 10 AM celebration of the Holy Eucharist. One need not call to reserve a place.

There is also childcare on Sunday evenings for Dean Lobs' "Going Deeper Class." Please call Trinity Parish if you wish to use the childcare that is available (772-567-1146). Trinity is most fortunate to have Becky Alascio as the Director of Children's Programs.

"Going Deeper"

Dean Lobs has a concern about the popular secular notion that has infiltrated the Church, that "Christians should not judge others" and variants of that theme. To say the least he does not agree and further finds it to be a non-biblical nor a Christian statement of values.

At the Sunday evening "Going Deeper Session" judgment will be discussed along with the first 3 chapters of the Book of Genesis. He welcomes any questions or comments that arise from his sermons at these gatherings.

Teachings This Weekend at Trinity
